Something To Try ( Just For Fun )

I just wanted to try something new and this seemed to be the thing to do. Was I ever glad that I did this. It was great and so peaceful to be gliding in the sky and the noise level is so low a person can really enjoy this.
I want to thank Sarah Kelly owner/operator for the ride and the experience.

Experience the thrill of motorless flight over the beautiful Tennessee countryside and ridges. Admire the Hiawassee River from thousands of feet in the air as you go up like a bird in a warm thermal. On some days you can fly the ridgeline at awesome speeds. Other times you can take hold of the controls with your pilot and feel what it is like to fly a glider through the various air currents that sustain free flight. These are all the joys of soaring at the Chilhowee Gliderport.

Since the late 1970's Chilhowee Gliderport has offered rides, instruction, and towing. It is a great place to come spend the day watching the beauty of soaring, hitching a ride, or the start point for a long cross-country flight. Our powerful Pawnee towplane can tow most any type of glider year round and rides are provided by FAA certified "commercial glider pilots." Additionally, you can get primary instruction for the new pilot or transition training for the current power pilot who wants to add "glider" to his or her ticket.

It's All Worth It

This is what I mean when I say it is all worth it !!!!! After a long day at work or if it has been a really difficult day, when you come home and sit on you deck and look at this kind of view it really makes a soul feel good and is so relaxing.
We over look the Hiawassee River and some of the mountains which are always a wonder within themselves.
Hope that you may get just a little bit of the feeling from these pictures.
Just sit back and enjoy

A Bit Of Information For All

Against the backdrop of the world's most ancient mountains is a special kind of place . . . A place where history lives . . . where tradition lingers . . . where people come together to discover their creative spirit.
That special place is the John C. Campbell Folk School. Nestled in Brasstown, NC, on 380 acres in a rolling valley, the Folk School offers visitors a chance to experience a special blend of history, art and natural beauty in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
In 1925, the Folk School began its work with its founders hopeful that the quality of life could be improved by education, and in turn wanted to preserve and share with the rest of the world the wonderful crafts, techniques and tools that the mountain people used in every day life. Today, The John C. Campbell Folk School offers a unique combination of arts and crafts classes & instruction, rich history, beautiful mountain surroundings, and an atmosphere of living and learning together.

Isn't Nature Grand

Some of natures wonders

Dugan saying hi to the little guy, he was found in the woods laying by his mother. She had been killed and just left there. He has been raised and is out on his own now. We wish him a long and happy life.
The grown deer was across from my brothers cottage in southern indiana. And was spotted at our Fathers Day get together.
The other little deer was spotted in a wooded area but you could tell that his family was near so her was left alone.
The moth was on our deck one morning and seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.
Nature has a way of taking care of things and making them worth seeing at the same time.

Some More Of Natures Wonders

The five leaf clover was found in the yard one day. Something you just dont see very often.
The little fox is one of two the other being in the bush somewhere behind. As you can see he is checking out the bird feeder.
The butterfly was out on our deck one morning and seemed to be enjoying the sunshine.

Bluebirds Coming Back

In the past few years we would see one of these birds but only seems like these was one and no more. But this year I went out and bought two Bluebird nesting houses and put up in the yard. And wouldn't you know we starded get two pair coming around so i put out seed and sit and watched.
Before long they did start to nest and before summer was over we hsd new familys of Bluebirds.Between the two pair they had a total of nine young ones. It was fun to watch them grow and take flight.
I will be sure to keep my houses out and food for them I sure want them to come back year after year.
